According to one Canadian research 30 per cent of respondents informed that they faced sexual harassment at work in one form or another by colleagues, line management or top management. Clearly, women are most sexually harassed. However, men also are sexually harassed, although many people can think that is weird. I would like to focus on homosexual harassment.<\/p>\n
I have heard different stories from the people I know. For example, a chief cook demanded his junior to give him a blowjob, threatening to disclose the victim’s sexual orientation to the boss. In other case one tried to force a male immigrant to have sex, knowing that it would be difficult for him to find a legal work. A shift leader of one wholesale depot periodically forced a young packer to anal sex. There are a lot of such cases, even in most developed countries.<\/p>\n
Of course, the special about such cases is their homosexual context. The guys mentioned in the stories above became hostages of that particular circumstance. All of them kept working despite everything, as it was difficult to find a suitable place of work. In spite of such a «discomfort» they had to accept it. The victims proved actually defenceless in all three cases. Either the boss refused to talk about it, wrinkling his nose in disgust, or there was nobody to complain to because of illegal immigrant status, which does not offer any guarantees.<\/p>\n
So the guys had to tolerate that. How long? It depends, from half a year to two and a half years. And not to forget that such events create a psychological trauma. It takes a lot of time to fight its negative effects.<\/p>\n
Civilized society is set to protect women — the victims of heterosexual work abuse. But the situation with men is more difficult, not least because men fear publicity, and are ready to tolerate. They just cannot resolve this problem in a constructive manner.<\/p>\n
When you come to think what a piece of advice would be, if someone faces It is very important to have the strength to stop feeling like a victim, and to give a rebuff to the abuser.
