The brochure for journalists called \u00abHow to write correctly about lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders\u00bb was recently published in Saint Petersburg. In this brochure authors explain why it is incorrect to call gay people “sexual minority”, give some incorrect examples from the mass media and define the concepts of “heterosexism”, “drag king” and “transphobia”.<\/p>\n
The brochure was published by organizers of LGBT International Film Festival \u201dSide by side\u201d. According to the authors, first of all this brochure was designed especially for journalists, bloggers and all those who write about the representatives of the LGBT community. It contains basic definitions targeted mainly at people who have hardly faced the topic of homosexuality before.<\/p>\n
The brochure lists the different types of hate speech: for example, incitement to violence and discrimination, creation of the negative image of LGBT and statements of their negative influence.<\/p>\n
