UPO “Gay Alliance Ukraine” launches the implementation of a new project together with the SIDA agency
UPO "Gay Alliance Ukraine" in cooperation with The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) starts a new comprehensive project to improve the LGBT human rights situation in Ukraine.
The project includes work in three directions.
The first – providing qualitative information on LGBT issues to all interested parties both inside the community and among general population. For this purpose will be continued the work of the informational resource of our organization – web portal, which will change its interface and format in the nearest future. Also a full book on the history of the gay community and LGBT movement in Ukraine will be published.
The second – development and strengthening of the community itself. Starting now launches the work of four community centers: in Odesa, Zhytomyr, Kryvyi Rih and Kyiv. On their basis will be implemented the programmes on search and training of the regional activists and volunteers, who in the future will become the leaders of the LGBT movement. The centers will operate in the new format for Ukraine: no HIV and STI prevention, only good company, interesting evening events and creating conditions for creative self-realization.
The third – organizational development of UPO "Gay Alliance Ukraine" that will allow to improve the competitiveness and professionalism of the employees. For this purpose there will be carried out special training programmes directed on development of management skills, work with finance, PR and HR (Human Resource). As well as supervisions and trainings aimed at prevention of professional burnout. For example, together with the Russian LGBT Network it is planned to conduct seven-day workshop on working with stress and burnout caused by the constant pressure, which all the activists of the LGBT movement are exposed to in our countries.
Within the organizational development it is planned to involve lawyers, M&E and HR experts to implement recommendations of the comprehensive audit of the organization, which recently took place.
