On 24 – 25 of March, 2014 in the central office of UPO "Gay Alliance Ukraine" was conducted a meeting of activists of the regional representative offices of our organization. Its main objective was working on our vision of the priorities in the current political conditions, which can hardly be called post-conflict. A conversation also included topics on the place and tasks of the Pride movement in the ongoing situation.
Group work showed that regional representatives are rather optimistic with regard to the Pride. However, they have repeatedly emphasized that all the steps to be taken should be carefully considered and coordinated, but the overall climate in the country might be favorable to promote tolerance and understanding between different groups. The participants of the meeting came to conclusion that preparatory work for the Pride should be continued and it should be carried out on full scope, including not only festival and cultural events, but also the Equality March, providing assurance of its safety.
Another important stage of the meeting was conducting of the general meeting of the organization and approval of a new, more democratic organizational structure. There was also a pleasant moment of joining four new regional representative offices to our team – Zhytomyr, Kherson, Ternopil and Odesa. Now UPO "Gay Alliance Ukraine" includes 19 regional representative offices, therefore it can be stated that the organization covers with its work all the territory of our country.
As a separate agenda point became the consideration of the possibility of decentralization in decision-making and improving of communication between regional offices. It was decided to launch an online platform for sharing information and providing technical assistance.
During the meeting its participants thoroughly acquainted with the ongoing and new projects of the organizations and expressed their wishes regarding being involved into them. Thereafter was developed a plan to work with external communications designed for six months.
