We are pleased to inform our readers that UPO "Gay Alliance Ukraine" is preparing a creative theoretical and practical workshop for young LGBT activists.
The event will be held in the framework of the international forum KyivPride2015, which we have already written and will continue to write about. Pride week will take place on 2-8 of June this year in Kyiv, and the workshop itself will be conducted on 4-5 of June 2015.
To participate in the creative workshop we invite 50 young people from all over Ukraine – to explore the basics of activism and advocacy of human rights. Its participants will be able not only to gain new knowledge and establish interesting contacts, but also to work out their skills in "real life" situations.
Young people will be teamed up into groups of 7-8 people. The first part of the workshop will be held in a format of intellectual competition between the teams in the form of brain-ring. The theme for assignments – human rights and their protection. Everyone willing to participate can start to prepare already, because a prize awaits the winning team. Further in the programme – master classes by Ukrainian leaders from the movement and much more. During the work activists-beginners will be trained on planning, organizing and conducting actions to support human rights, as well as receive information on how to work with mass media in order to ensure proper coverage of their work. After a large portion of the information and inspiration teams will prepare and implement a street action in Kyiv.
To participate in the workshop you need to fill in a short questionnaire, which you will find here. Do not forget to pay attention to your motivation to participate, because based on this information a competitive selection of participants for the workshop will be held. Deadline for applications is May 18th. Notification of participation will be sent no later than May 20th, to have time to deal with the tickets. Good luck and see you in Kyiv!
