Queer Home Kyiv will teach how to recognize fakes and propaganda

Ukrainian Press Academy, StopFake and IREX together with UPO Gay Alliance Ukraine will have Don’t Drown in Information Rain media literacy trainings on January 9-10 and 16-17 in Queer Home Kyiv.

The events in Ukraine became the central topics for leading mass media of different countries in the last few years. It caused great increase in the number of untrue materials of manipulation and propaganda that the audience believes in.

It’s very important to tell the truth from the fiction in the context of modern hybrid war with the focus on information. Every day we are at risk of getting into information trap just by reading the news.

During Queer Home Kyiv trainings media literacy trainers will explain how to recognize fakes and propaganda in the information stream. What will it give? The knowledge of mass media operating principles, critical-thinking skills, information on ways of using  hate speech and stereotypes in media, chance to analyze and filter the information and recognize various kinds of manipulation.

The trainings are held in frames of Media Literacy Program for the Citizens project implemented by Ukrainian Press Academy. StopFake and IREX supported by Global Peace and Security Fund and DFATD Canada.
