The Kyiv shelter for displaced LGBT people changed its conditions of work. Earlier on it gave temporary accommodations for the LGBT that were temporarily displaced from the occupied Donbas areas and Crimea only. Now LGBT people that found themselves in difficult circumstances also could apply for the temporary shelter. For example, it concerns victims of domestic violence, homophobia or transphobia of the relatives or people who are turned out of the house and have nowhere to go.

The shelter is designed for hosting 6 people simultaneously. They receive not only safe place to sleep and rest in but also legal and psychological advice (if necessary) and primary help in job hunting. Maximal period for staying in the shelter is 3 months, the applications should be sent to shelter.insight@gmail.com.

“All the applications are considered during 1-2 working days. If the shelter is full, the applications will be temporarily restricted. All things being equal, LBTI (lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people) are preferred,” tells website of NGO Insight that organized the shelter’s work.
